Tennessee to Roblox: “Delete Your App” — The Massive Lawsuit Over Child Safety Explained

Tennessee is officially putting Roblox on blast, and honestly, it’s about time someone looked under the hood of this “digital playground.”

The Lawsuit is Lowkey Scorched Earth

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti isn’t just sending a stern email; he’s taking the company to court for basically being a “creepy cargo van” parked at the edge of a virtual playground. The lawsuit alleges that Roblox has been out here playing with fire, prioritizing record-breaking profits while children are being exposed to things that definitely aren’t “E for Everyone.” We’re talking about “experiences” that shouldn’t even exist on a platform for kids, from virtual strip clubs to straight-up predatory grooming grounds.

Predators are Speedrunning the Safeguards

The vibe of the lawsuit is simple: Roblox knows its safety tech is mid at best, but they keep the gates wide open to keep that daily active user count (DAU) looking juicy for investors. According to the state, the platform’s age verification is basically a suggestion box, making it a cakewalk for bad actors to slide into DMs and groom minors. While Roblox claims they have “advanced safeguards,” the lawsuit points to the fact that kids are still finding their way into “Diddy Party” and “Epstein Island” simulations—which is a massive yikes.

It’s a “Profit Over People” Masterclass

The state isn’t buying the “we’re trying our best” defense anymore. The complaint suggests that Roblox deliberately cut back on safety oversight because moderation is expensive and slows down growth. By making it too easy to create accounts without parental consent, they’ve essentially built a “predator’s playbook” where digital currency (Robux) is used as bait to lure kids off-platform to places like Discord or Snapchat. Tennessee is effectively saying: “Fix your game or pay up.”

Straight Talk

The TL;DR? Tennessee is suing because they say Roblox is a “trap” that lied to parents about being safe while letting predators and “X-rated” content thrive just to keep their stock price up.
