Philly Star Alec Bohm Sues Parents: $3 Million Lawsuit Rocks Phillies’ Opening Week

While the Philadelphia Phillies are celebrating a hot start to the 2026 season, their star third baseman, Alec Bohm, is dealing with a major battle off the field.

Last Wednesday—just one day before he hit a massive three-run home run to help beat the Texas Rangers—Bohm filed a lawsuit against his own parents. He claims they tricked him out of millions of dollars while they were supposed to be helping him manage his money.

What Went Wrong?

Since Bohm joined the Major Leagues in 2019, his parents, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, have been in charge of his finances. According to the lawsuit, they set up special business accounts (called LLCs) to hold his earnings.

Bohm says his parents told him they needed to own 10% of those businesses to act as his representatives, but they promised that all the money really belonged to him. However, when Bohm asked to see his account statements earlier this year, he says his parents refused to show them.

The Shocking Details:

  • Missing Millions: Bohm claims his parents moved millions of dollars into accounts they controlled.
  • Personal Expenses: The lawsuit alleges that money meant for charity (The Alec Bohm Foundation) was used to pay for his parents’ personal bills.
  • The “RV” Lifestyle: Interestingly, Bohm’s parents reportedly live in a recreational vehicle (RV) and travel the country.

The Defense: “We Were Just Doing Our Jobs”

Bohm’s parents deny that they did anything wrong. Their lawyer says they are “deeply saddened” by the lawsuit and that they have always loved their son.

They claim that Alec always had access to his accounts and that they were actually billing him for their work—at a rate of $50 per hour. They also say they used their own personal credit cards to pay for many of Alec’s expenses over the years.

Focusing on the Game

Despite the drama, Bohm is still performing like a pro. After the Phillies’ 5-3 win on Opening Day, he told reporters he wasn’t going to talk about “personal matters.” At 29 years old, Bohm is playing on a $10.2 million contract this year, and he clearly wants to keep his focus on helping the Phillies get back to the World Series.

The Bottom Line: Family and money can be a messy mix. For now, Bohm is letting his lawyers handle the courtroom while he handles the hot corner at Citizens Bank Park.
