Mass immigration will ‘ruin’ Spain if not controlled, Trump warns

() – Spain will become a “ruined country” if it does not get immigration under control, U.S. President Donald Trump commented this week in an interview with Britain’s GB News.

At the end of July, viral videos showed migrants from Morocco overrunning beaches in the small Spanish territory of Ceuta, where regional government President Juan Jesús Vivas said that local migrant reception centers were being overwhelmed, with “hundreds” sleeping on the streets, urging the Spanish government to declare a national emergency and send forces to help “guarantee the inviolability of the frontier and citizen safety.”

Spain’s socialist prime minister Pedro Sanchez said that he was “mobilizing all necessary resources,” but the Spanish interior ministry claimed that it could not declare a state of emergency as migration flows are not legally considered a qualifying national security risk. Tens of thousands have swarmed the town, with angry locals taking to the streets in response.

“Spain will be a ruined country, and I’ve had my own problems with Spain because Spain doesn’t behave very well with respect to NATO. They don’t pay what they should be paying. It’s very sad,” Trump told GB News.

“Hopefully other countries like the UK, where you have your own problems, but it’s not as visible as that…,” Trump continued. “You know, you don’t have thousands of people just bum rushing your country. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Earlier this week, Euronews reported that “around 5,000 of the roughly 72,000 people who entered irregularly remain in Ceuta, while efforts continue to open new reception facilities and speed up return procedures,” and the government intends to allocate €165 million in emergency recovery spending. GB News also reported this week that enough remain that authorities have “recorded 23 sexual assaults in the enclave since the end of July, including nine involving children,” amounting to one case a day.

Across the Western world, unrest has been brewing over liberal governments’ failures to control mass migration across their borders from third-world, often Islamic countries with radically different cultures and standards, leading to a slew of social ills, including increased crime, strained public services, security threats, and, in some localities, entire enclaves that have become unrecognizable and unsafe for natives.

Apart from Spain’s problems, violent protests broke out across Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Ayr earlier this summer after the attempted beheading of a Scottish man by a Sudanese national.

Even Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, has given lip service to the crisis, declaring, “we cannot allow anyone to come to our Union without abiding by our rules. Dangerous crossings must stop immediately. Smuggling networks must be dismantled. And returns must be swift, as our rules allow.”

Trump, who made immigration control the cornerstone of his political messaging, “has long warned Europe what would happen if they continue to implement far-left, globalist policies, including enabling mass migration,” White House principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly said in July. “Spain and other countries who have adopted this destructive philosophy should immediately reverse course or risk their own demise.”
