DUBLIN, OH — In a major rebranding move, Wendy’s International announced Friday that the beloved, red-headed cartoon mascot “Wendy” has been “quietly replaced” by a newer, significantly shorter model, effective immediately. Company executives cited the need to keep the brand “fresh and relevant,” and insisted the decision had nothing to do with recent headlines or pending litigation. “This is the new Wendy. She’s shorter. She likes her food and her news… a bit less ‘complicated,’” stated Wendy’s Chief Brand Officer. The brand’s new identity, featuring the afro-puffs-sporting girl, will appear on all marketing materials, while the former mascot has reportedly been offered a job in ‘product development and lawsuit mitigation.’
