Team Ninja is not playing around.

While most devs are still “investigating” bugs a month after launch, the absolute madmen behind Nioh 3 just dropped Patch 1.04, and it’s a chunky 1GB monster that actually listens to the community. Seriously, if you’ve been getting your teeth kicked in by bosses while your AI summon stands in the corner eating glue, this update is your new best friend.

The “Million Sales” Swag Has Arrived

First off, let’s talk about the drip. We knew it was coming, but the Thunderous Armor sets are officially live. Team Ninja promised these as a “thank you” for hitting that massive one-million-sales milestone, and they didn’t cheap out. You’re getting both the Ninja and Samurai variants for the low, low price of absolutely free.

It’s a nice victory lap, but let’s be real: we’re here for the mechanical guts.

Fixing the “Suicidal AI” Problem

If you’ve played Nioh, you know the struggle. You summon a Benevolent Grave for some help, and the boss decides it personally hates you and only you. You spend the whole fight dodging for your life while your AI buddy swings at thin air.

Not anymore.

Patch 1.04 tweaks the aggro mechanics so bosses actually split their attention. It makes the AI summons feel like actual teammates instead of expensive distractions. Plus, if you prefer human company, the Glory gains for multiplayer have been buffed across the board. It doesn’t matter if you’re the host or the guest anymore—everyone gets paid.

Gravity? Never Heard of Her.

The most underrated part of this patch? The verticality.

  • Magic & Ninjutsu: Ever tried to throw a fireball at an enemy standing slightly uphill only for it to vanish into the dirt? That’s fixed. Spells and Kunai now actually track targets across different elevations.
  • Air Attacks: You can now chain attacks immediately after jumping. No more awkward “buffer pause” when you hit the ground. It’s smoother, faster, and opens up some nasty air-combo potential that we haven’t even fully mapped out yet.

The “Small Wins” That Save Your Sanity

They also tackled the “inventory Tetris” headache. Sudama Soul Cores? They now automatically teleport to your item box so you don’t have to manually scoop them up like a janitor after every trade. They even bumped the limit on forging materials, because who has time to micro-manage iron chunks when there are demons to slay?

Honestly, this is how you support a hardcore RPG. It’s punchy, it fixes the friction points, and it rewards the players who have been grinding since day one.

Have you tried the new Thunderous set yet? Let me know if the stats actually hold up in the endgame, or if it’s just for the fashion-soul life.
